Episode 57: WAF 2014 Rob Backhouse Hassell

Robert Backhouse is the managing director of international design practice Hassell. He is known for his reputation for design leadership and has completed international projects in Australia and Asia. He has worked for multinationals such as ANZ, BHP Billiton, Westpac and Medibank.  In 2011, he was awarded with the DIA fellowship. Robert’s broad portfolio of built work includes a range of commercial and residential commissions, from some of the world’s largest and most complex workplaces to unique apartments and houses.

Jan caught up with him at this year’s World Architecture Festival to talk to him about the infrastructure of his award-winning projects for ANZ in Melbourne and Sydney, Hassell’s global expansion and his current position at Hassell.
